On Felting...

I spun this yarn ages ago and couldn't decide what to use it for - It's a blend of Mohair; silk, wool and soysilk and it has Swarovski crystal beads spun through it.

SO...I decided to go with -

A hat! Why not, I've never made a hat before and can't use DPN's (Double Pointed Needles) so I just started knitting, did a few decreases and cast off.

(A glass of wine for scale)

I wasn't at all happy with it, but started felting it by hand anyway and after it was quite felted I stretched it on to the hat block.

It took ageeesssssss.............

And for want of a better photo, this is what I ended up with.

I really like it! Although the felt is not stiff enough, I read somewhere it needs to be beaten.

A better photo on the head of its recipient coming soon.....
